Here was filmed…

In ‘Cleopatra’, the dunes of Cabo de Gata and Tabernas were used to represent the Battle of Fersalia.

In ‘Patton’, Cabo de Gata represented an Arab village in North Africa by building diverse sets in Calle Iglesia (Church Street), specifically some houses that were attached to the already existed ones, to give the street a continuity to the beach and General Patton’s headquarter. The entry of the main character into the village at the beginning of the movie was also shot here, together with the sequence where George C. Scott greets some local children, the sequence of the German airplane attacking the village, which required the blast of two of the built houses, and General Patton’s visit to the tombs of the North American soldiers felt in Tunisia.
