THE GREAT ROUTE OF FILM BY ANDALUSIA
Grice Hutchinson Street, Plaza de la Inmaculada and Vega Street, Churriana, Málaga

Churriana is a quarter in the city of Malaga. It is next to main places in the city such as the airport or the quarters known as Las Espeñuelas, Los Paredones or La Tosca. It counts with a great monumental patrimony, specially the Iglesia de San Antonio Abad and the Plaza de la Independencia, one of the most beautiful squares in the province and that is visited by thousands of tourists through the year.

Here was filmed…

The Camino de los Ingleses, which appears at the beginning and the end of Summer Rain, was originally the Camino de Antequera, but has been so restructured during the last thirty years, that the most similar place to what it used to be, was found by the shooting team in Churriana, where the scenes located in Gonzalo Cortés ‘bar, meeting point of the main characters, were shot.

The roundabout in front of the bar was named “Glorieta El Camino de los Ingleses”, honouring the film. Grice Hutchinson Street was called after a British writer who lived in the area, same as her friend and writer Gerald Brenan.

The Plaza de la Inmaculada and Vega Street reproduce the area around the old Camino de Antequera, the terrace with green tables and iron columns, typical from that time and that the writer tries to show in the novel. The rain, main character in this and many other shots, has been always produced artificially, astonishing the locals.
