THE GREAT ROUTE OF FILM BY ANDALUSIA
Plaza de España, Sevilla

Designated in 2017 as Treasure of European Film Culture by the European Film Academy, for serving as the filming locations for pictures such as ‘Star Wars. Episode II: Attack of the Clones’, ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ or ‘The Dictator’, this emblematic architectural complex in the city of Seville was built by architect Aníbal González for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It has a semi-elliptical shape and a 185-yard diameter and symbolises Spain hugging Hispanic American countries.

Here was filmed…

For Lawrence of Arabia, the Military Headquarters building was turned into General Allenby’s headquarters in Cairo. Moreover, in the basement of the Peruvian consulate, in Avenida de María Luisa, they located the map room of the Arab Office, where Lawrence started his military career.

In the Edificio de Capitanía theatre, in Plaza de España, they shot the conference that appears at the beginning of the film El Autor by Martín Cuenca.

In this square is where Araceli and Ignacio meet in ‘Jalisco canta en Sevilla. In the film we can see both the North Tower, as a part of the square. We can also observe the square in Bread, Love and Andalusia with the appearance of the North Tower and the first of the four bridges that allow crossing the pond.

In recent years, the TV Serie ‘Allí abajo‘ has been filmed there, among other locations.
