THE GREAT ROUTE OF FILM BY ANDALUSIA
Maestro Artola Square

Here you can find the Málaga Music Conservatory, the former headquarters of the old School of Dramatic Arts. In the vicinity of the square, there is the El Ejido University Campus of the University of Málaga and the Teatro Cánovas theatre.

Here was filmed…

In ‘Summer Rain’ the building of the Music Conservatory (in which its director Antonio Banderas had taken lessons back at the time when it was a School of Dramatic Arts) was the setting for the “Estrella Pontificia”, the Dance Academy attended by Luli. Near this square, next to the old provincial prison in the Cruz de Humilladero quarter, they shot the sequence of Mr Alfredo’s release from prison, which gathered many neighbours from the adjoining districts, who did not hesitate to arrange chairs behind the barriers to watch the shooting.
