The Callejón de la Inquisición is located in the Triana district and connects the Paseo de Nuestra Señora de la O, next to the Guadalquivir River, with Calle Castilla at its junction with Calle Callao. Its name is due to its proximity to the old castle of San Jorge, which in medieval times housed the headquarters of the Holy Office of the Inquisition, where heretics were tried and punished.
