The Casa Grande del Pumarejo is an 18th-century palatial house located in the historic center of Seville. In 1883, it was converted into a casa de vecinos (a communal dwelling), housing small apartments, shops, and workshops. Today, it is owned by the City Council, protected as a Site of Cultural Interest (Bien de Interés Cultural) by the Andalusian Regional Government’s Department of Culture, and is self-managed by local residents through the Asociación Casa del Pumarejo. This association is made up of individuals and community groups who promote cultural, artistic, political, social, and artisanal activities.
The house was turned into a corral de vecinos (a communal living space), the “world” in which La Caoba, a member of the ‘Unit 7’ in the film Grupo 7 by Alberto Rodríguez, lives.
