Gothic, Baroque and neoclassical styles are combined in perfect harmony in the largest place of worship in Jerez which was built in the seventeenth century on the site of the ancient Mosque and the original Church of El Salvador.
Within the Cathedral the chapels of La Inmaculada, Del Sagrario and Las Ánimas are of particular interest, the latter dedicated to the famous Cristo de la Viga, from the fourteenth century. There is also a museum, with various significant works of art including “La Virgen Niña” by Zurbarán and others by Juan Rodríguez, ’El Tahonero’.

The funeral in the film ‘El verano que vivimos’ was enacted in the Cathedral, which was also the location for the scene featuring the treading of the grapes.
