In Season 3 of The Crown, the la Peñuela Hacienda was used to depict one of the places where Princess Margaret and her husband stayed during their trip to the United States, the Douglas Ranch in Arizona, which was established in the nineteenth-century amidst the Santa Rita Mountains. The couple is staying there in the desert when they receive an invitation from the President of the United States to attend a dinner at the White House.
La Peñuela is located in the municipality of Jerez de la Frontera, just a few kilometres from the famous motor racing circuit. It is more than 400 years old and was originally the site of a Carthusian monastery.
In the Hacienda, which is currently owned by the Bohórquez family, apart from the Carthusian chapel with its priceless altarpiece by Zurbarán, there is also a small bullring, a carriage museum and a family winery. Nowadays, the Hacienda is used for events and celebrations.
