As part of their long journey through Australia which takes place in the episode entitled ‘No Man’s Land’ in ‘The Crown’ Season 4, a smiling and happy looking Charles and Diana are greeted by a large crowd which waves and cheers as they drive through the city of Adelaide.
The spectacular Historical Botanical gardens of la Concepción belong to the City Council of Malaga and were created around 1855 by the Marquises of Casa Loring. Later expanded by the Echevarría-Echevarrieta family, they offer a beautiful vista of tropical and subtropical flora with plant species from Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. In 1943 they were officially declared Gardens of Historical and Artistic significance, and are currently considered to be a Site of Cultural Interest. There are more than 1,000 species present in the Park, and the Monumental Grove, the collection of palm trees and the aquatic species are of particular interest.
Its historical and monumental heritage is enhanced by its many fine buildings: the magnificent Palatial House; the cottage of the cypress trees; the administrator’s house, the gardener’s shed, the schoolhouse; two iron greenhouses, a large glass pavilion; fountains, bridges, steps, a beautiful vantage point; and perhaps most fascinating of all, the Loringiano Museum, a Doric style temple, which once housed the archaeological relics discovered during excavations funded by the original family who owned the estate.
