This Sevillian town is situated in the vicinity of the Nature Reserve of Doñana, in the region of Las Marismas. The Guadalquivir river gives it its name. Featuring a great environmental diversity, its economy is based on the cultivation of rice.
The nature reserves of Cañada de los Pájaros y Dehesa de Abajo, the pine groves, the Eastern and Western branches, La Isleta and Los Olivillos specially deserve to be mentioned.
Several scenes from Alberto Rodríguez’s ‘Marshland’ were shot in this Sevillian town: the one in the mooring where Rodrigo, the boatman and father of the two girls, live; the sequences featuring Angelita’s boat; and, in general, all the Guadalquivir river scenes.
