Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz

This little church, located in the middle of Bajo de Guía, is devoted to the patron of sailors, known as Virgen del Carmen. Inaugurated in 1896 and sponsored by the Council of Ladies from Sanlúcar, it is the typical seamen chapel and houses three different sculptures of the Virgin. In the middle of July, one of these images, which simulates a silver boat and is positioned on a pedestal, is taken in a sea procession to Chipiona and brought back to the chapel on foot in a moving sign of popular fervour.
