Información
Talk about Almeria Cathedral is to talk about the history of the city during the last five centuries. Also known as Catedral de la Encarnación, this building is nowadays the chair of the Bishop.
In the square, a plaque reminds us that in the 70s of the past XXth century, Almeria Cathedral was used as the shooting set of the North American film Patton, although its structure was quite different from the present one, due to the diverse modifications presented by the building.
The current square, which precedes the main door of the Cathedral, scalloped with palm trees, was restructured between 1999 and 2000 by the architects Alberto Campo and Modesto Sánchez.
