Sotogrande
Sotogrande is an urbanization belonging to the municipality of San Roque, in the area known as Campo de Gibraltar. The multiple sports facilities and huge range of hotels it offers have led to it being considered one of the leading luxury residential and leisure areas in Spain and even Europe as a whole.
According to the official census it has a population of 2,584, although it is estimated that this grows to around 12,500 during the summer months and some of the richest and most influential families in Spain and Gibraltar have permanent or holiday homes here.
Filmed here
The streets of Sotogrande were used in Season 3 of ‘The Crown’ to film scenes of Princess Margaret’s visit to the USA. In the series we see several shots of the princess travelling by car and Sotogrande’s distinguished palm grove is the backdrop for the arrival of her and her husband in Los Angeles.
