Located next to the Guadalquivir River, this Almohad tower is, alongside the Giralda, one of the iconic symbols of Seville. The tower consists of three sections: the first was commissioned between 1220 and 1221 by the Almohad leader Abù I-Ulà; the second was added in the 14th century by Pedro I “the Cruel”; and the third was completed in 1760 by military engineer Sebastián Van der Borcht, who crowned the tower with a dome. It is one of the most visited landmarks, celebrated for the stunning views it offers of the river and the city, as well as for the fascinating Spanish Navy Museum housed within.
