Almost two decades have passed since María lost Manuel and was left alone to look after Nicolás and Manuela, the newborn daughter her husband never got to meet. Over the years, she has managed to keep the Cervantes’ land going thanks to her own courage and that of Claudia, the rebellious farm labourer and illegitimate daughter of Don Ramón. María will suffer further losses and will have to keep fighting to prevent the land from being lost, but above all to ensure that her children do not lose their roots and remain united with their family and their heritage.
