Set in a commanding position, with magnificent views over the surrounding countryside, the Alameda Vieja is the oldest tree-lined promenade in Jerez de la Frontera. It forms significant part of the city due to its size, its historical importance and its location, delimited as it is by the monumental complex of the Alcázar, the Santa Iglesia Cathedral and the majestic González Byass bodegas.
In the film ‘El verano que vivimos’ this was the area used to recreate the 1958 Jerez Feria where Lucía dances a bulería inside a marquee, under the watchful eye of Gonzalo (Javier Rey). On leaving there is an altercation between him and Miguel.
