The Cabo de Plata bunker is one of several curious fortifications built between Barbate and Tarifa, including the bunker at Zahara de los Atunes, constructed in 1940 as defense mechanisms against the Allies during World War II. Below this particular bunker, located near Playa de los Alemanes, lies a serene cove featuring crystal-clear waters and white sands, offering a tranquil retreat and a stark contrast to its historical military origins.
This cove served as the filming location for the recreation of the Noche de San Juan, where people gather around bonfires on the sandy beach. The protagonists of ‘The Girls at the Back’perform rituals like jumping barefoot over the flames and burning away negativity.
In Episode 7 of ‘If Only’, the beach and an impressive house become the backdrop for several pivotal scenes, intertwining the present and past of the characters. In the present, Nando shares with Emma the names he plans to give his children and hints at a future date when significant changes will occur. On the beach, Emma confides in Nando about everything she has experienced, creating a moment where it seems everything might shift once again.
