The Zahara-El Gastor reservoir is located in the Northeast of the province of Cadiz. It comprises some lands in the municipalities of Zahara de la Sierra and El Gastor. The reservoir is a great tourist attraction of Zahara, because in addition to the aesthetic effect, the reservoir can be seen from the balcony of its central square and it reflects the town from the shore, it is also used for outdoor water sports activities.

Madre amadísima

Specifically, the reservoir (which in the film they call “the lagoon”) is where Alfredito and Javi meet in secret in Madre amadísima’. Several scenes were also shot in the town itself, one of the municipalities that is part of the Route of the White Towns.
