The Palace of the Countess of Casares, built in 1837 on the site of the former royal prison, is located in the Plaza de la Asunción, a beautiful enclave with an extraordinary and valuable heritage encompassing a range of different architectural styles. The Church of San Dionisio and the ancient Chapterhouse stand in the same square. Both were built during the last third of the 16th century and are amongst the finest examples of local Renaissance architecture.
In the film ‘El Verano que vivimos’ the palace is home to the central character, Lucía (Blanca Suárez) and in one of the sequences shot here, Hernán (Pablo Molinero), gives Lucia a pendant which he bought for her during his trip to Paris.
