The Plaza del Palillero is a well-known square located in the historic center of Cádiz. It lies in the heart of the city and is a prominent place with a rich history and architectural charm.
The origin of the square’s name dates back to the 18th century, as it was a place where people would stop to chat or “palique” (engage in small talk) about the content of newspapers. These newspapers were published by a printing press located in the square, called “la Tormentaira,” which played a significant role in the years following the Cádiz Cortes. It published two newspapers eagerly awaited by citizens: El Tributo and El Articulista del Pueblo Español.
In the square, you’ll find the headquarters of the Women’s Foundation, where the scene from ‘Andrea’s Love’ was filmed. This particular scene depicts Andrea visiting a lawyer’s office to seek help.
