The Restaurant El Mirlo Blanco is located in the heart of Mijas, and is one of the iconic restaurants of the town and the Costa del Sol since 1968. Run by the Auzmendi family for more than 40 years, its menu is composed by Andalusian-Basque cuisine. It is located in an old house, which is typical of this white village in the mountains of Mijas, and on its outside terrace you can enjoy a privileged view of one of the unmistakable towns of the Costa del Sol.

(Leslie H. Martinson, 1967)

You can get to the Mirlo Blanco by foot or by donkey taxi, as Raquel Welch did in ‘Fathom’ (1967). The mythical actress who, in the midst of the secret agent film boom, came to the Costa del Sol with a license to kill, playing a sort of 007 who is looking for a valuable gem and that is also being pursued by a dangerous criminal organization, stayed there in fiction. Also worth a visit from this restaurant is the nearby Mijas bullring, where Welch was trying to fight off the horns of a young bull. Literally, because the spy was caught in a trap with an inappropriate outfit: she was dressed in red cape.
