Based on the book by Arturo Perez Reverte. Coy is a sailor who has lost his pilot’s license after an accident at sea. Attending an auction in Barcelona he meets a beautiful woman who wins over a man to purchase a 17th-century nautical chart of the Spanish coast by Urrutia Salcedo. The woman is Tánger Soto, of Madrid’s Museo Naval, the man is a famed pirate of sea salvage, Nino Palermo. They along with an enigmatic Argentinean are all interested in the same thing: a treasure sunk three centuries ago near the coast of Cartagena.
