Located on the junction between Calle Larga and Calle María, the Gallo Azul is an emblematic building in the commercial and historical centre of Jerez. It was commissioned by the Domecq family and built in 1927, with a view to marking the Ibero-American exhibition of 1929. It is the work of Sevillian architect Aníbal González, and reflects the regionalist and neo-mudéjar style with the traditional brick architecture which is typical of his prestigious designs.
In a scene from the film ‘El verano que vivimos’Hernán and Gonzalo walk through the centre of Jerez with the mythical Gallo Azul building in the background.
