A 5-part TVE miniseries about Mariana Pineda (1804-1831) and set in Granada in 1831, the eighth year of the absolutist reign of Ferdinand VII. The script is based on official documents from Mariana Pineda’s trial. It narrates the final days of the life of a woman who devoted herself to the liberal cause. She was convicted and executed on May 26, 1831, with the noblest of the three rituals, which included execution by garroting, after rejecting the pardon offered to her if she betrayed her fellow followers. In addition to historical details, the series presents a fictional plot transformed into a dramatic synthesis, reflecting the customs of the period, its folklore, and political and religious intrigues.
